Occasionally, using Quick Resume on Xbox Series X|S can cause issues with certain online games, and so, some users have been asking for the option to be able to turn the feature on and off. According to Xbox boss Phil Spencer, this is something that the team will add to its list to “look at”.
When putting a game into a Quick Resume state on Xbox Series X|S, it suspends your session, so you can immediately pick up where you left off. The feature works more successfully with the majority of single-player games, but can run into problems when suspending an online game, especially ones that require a connection to a server.
The likes of FIFA, Halo Infinite, PUBG, Fall Guys, and the like all experience issues when put into a Quick Resume state, which means having to quit the game completely, and reboot it. “I still don’t understand how [Quick Resume is] not a feature you can disable,” Twitter user GabeTC99 lamented (via VGC).
“It’s amazing for a lot of games but when it tries to Quick Resume an online-only game it absolutely breaks it and you have to manually quit. If only an option to disable it for such games existed.”
Spencer offered a response to the tweet, commenting: “Good feature ask, makes sense. We will put it on the list of things to look at.”
Of course, there’s no timescale on when the ability to disable Quick Resume will roll out for Xbox Series X|S, but rest assured, it’s probably in the pipeline.
