The Nissan Kicks is a subcompact crossover SUV that has had its share of success ever since its reveal in 2016. When it entered the American market in 2018 as a replacement for the Nissan Juke, it was marketed as a subcompact crossover SUV that was modern and fashionable for younger drivers. It was more attractive on the inside than the outside, with city-friendly maneuverability as the main focus in its mechanical design.

While the Nissan Kicks has had its fair share of success in the few years it has been on the market, there is still no sign of any significant change soon that makes the 2022, and 2023 Nissan Kicks worth the purchase. Here is everything we know about the upcoming 2023 Nissan Kicks and why you should wait for the 2024 model.

The 2022 Nissan Kicks is primarily the same car from 2018, a subcompact crossover that gives consumers that would typically buy a subcompact sedan or hatchback a bigger vehicle for around the same price. The Nissan Kicks comes in three different trim levels, the Kicks S, which acts as the base model; the Kicks SV, and the Kicks SR, which acts as the top-of-the-line model.

Every Nissan Kicks is powered by the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 122 hp, which is paired with a CVT. While the powerplant may be the same across all models, the Kicks has an extensive list of features unique to every trim level.

According to Autotrader, The Kicks S comes standard with remote keyless entry, a 7-inch touch screen with Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking.

If you spring for the SV model, your Kicks will be outfitted with adaptive cruise control, heated outboard mirrors, push-button start, and roof rails. The SR trim level adds LED headlights, foglights, integrated mirror-mounted turn signals, and a surround-view camera. An optional premium package adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a wifi hotspot.

2022 Nissan Kicks – Pricing

The Nissan Kicks is one of the most affordable crossover SUVs today, with the S base trim starting at $19,700 MSRP, the SV trim starting at $21,550 MSRP, and the SR trim starting at $22,240.

What is wrong with the 2023 Nissan Kicks?

According to Autoblog, the 2023 Nissan Kicks is practically identical to the current 2022 model with one significant change; an increased price. Every trim level of the Nissan Kicks is the same as it is now. They are all just more expensive. The Nissan Kicks S starts at $21,585 MSRP, the Kicks SV starts at $23,445 MSRP, and the Kicks SR starts at $24,145 MSRP.

Without any significant changes to the Nissan Kicks, it isn’t worth buying a 2023 Nissan Kicks as they are released this upcoming year.

You should wait for a 2024 Nissan Kicks

— Jalopnik (@Jalopnik) September 2, 2022

With Nissan planning on canceling the Nissan Rogue Sport to invest their money into better-selling vehicles, there is good news on the horizon for the Nissan Kick—a full upgrade. Unlike the facelift that the Kicks received in 2021, the 2024 model is rumored to be a completely new next-generation subcompact crossover SUV which is bound to be longer and wider than the current Kicks, while maintaining its maneuverability. The Kicks is also bound to receive one prominent feature currently missing from its lineup—all-wheel drive.

With this new Nissan Kicks on the horizon for 2024, it is safe to say that it is worth waiting for the 2024 Nissan Kicks.
