In case you didn’t know, October 29 is National Cat Day. If you happen to be taking care of one or more, give them a hug and some treats today!
Since it is National Cat Day, today’s #TheSteamSix feature will focus on six games on Steam that feature cats. Without further ado, let’s get started!
Cat Goes Fishing
Released on January 20, 2015, Cat Goes Fishing is a very straightforward game. As its name suggest, it is about a cat going fishing.
You, of course, will take on the role of the cat and will start out with a basic fishing rod. As you progress in the game and get to know the behaviors of the different fish you encounter, you get to upgrade and customize your fishing rod as you go. You also get to unlock new boats that you can ride as you go on your fishing trip.
Action role-playing game (RPG) Cat Quest was released on August 8, 2017. It is developed by The Gentlebros and published by PQube.
The goal of the game is for your to rescue your catnapped sister and, in doing so, pursue the evil that took her. You also get to explore the game’s overworld map, search dungeons for loot, and even take part in side missions.
Cats Organized Neatly
Developed and published by DU&I, Cats Organized Neatly was released on October 13, 2020. If you are a fan of both puzzle games and cats, this game is right up your alley.
What you have to do in this 2D puzzle game is pretty simple. You simply have to make sure that all cats fit in the grid you are provided. What makes this challenging is that the cats come in all shapes and sizes.
Night in the Woods
Developed by Infinite Fall and published by Finji, Night in the Woods was released on February 21, 2017. You take control of the character, Mae Borowski, who happens to be a cat and a college dropout.
According to the game’s Steam page, Mae “returns home to the crumbling former mining town of Possum Springs seeking to resume her aimless former life and reconnect with the friends she left behind.” As you might have already guessed, the town is full of zoomorphic humans.
Developed by Videocult and published by Akupara Games, Rain World is a survival platformer game released on March 29, 2017. You take on the role of slugcat, which is both a prey and predator in the game, according to its Steam page.
Separated from your family, you must learn to survive on your own by hunting for food and discovering new places. Of course, as a slugcat is considered a prey in the game, you must also avoid the creatures that prey on slugcats.
The newest release on this list, Stray is developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game was released on July 19, 2022. The adventure game is played in third person.
The story of Stray follows a lost stray cat “must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city,” per its Steam page. The cat ends up befriending a small flying drone that will help find a way to escape.
