US Army Veteran Kidnapped Ex-Wife, Stabbed Her, and Buried Her Alive in the Woods
According to the story by Giz China, there have been a lot of times when smartphones were able to save certain individuals’ lives. The same has happened recently with smartwatches, wherein they were able to save the wearer’s lives.
An article by The Daily Beast shares how a woman was kidnapped by her ex-husband, a US army veteran. The woman was then bound with duct tape on her arms and legs, and after she was stabbed in the chest, she was buried alive in the woods.
The Ex-Wife was Able to Ask Help from a Stranger
Luckily, the 42-year-old woman could escape and make it to a stranger’s door to ask for help. While this sounds like a horror film script, it is actually a true story, and what really saved the woman was her Apple Watch.
The story started on October 16 when the woman talked with her ex-husband about their divorce and money. The man then got angry when the woman asked if she could leave, and once she entered the bedroom, the man got angry and attacked her.
The Woman Used Her Apple Watch to Call 911
The woman was punched in the head several times and even thrown to the ground. Her hands, eyes, thighs, and ankles were tied up with duct tape.
While she lay down on the floor with her hands taped and her husband left the room, the Apple Watch was used to call 911. Although a dispatcher could be heard talking to her, she could not say anything, as explained in detail in an article by News18.
She was Dragged and the Apple Watch Destroyed
Her ex-husband then dragged her body to the floor in front of the garage door, where he saw the Apple Watch and hit it with a hammer. The woman was taken to the woods, stabbed in the breasts with a sharp object, and buried in the ground.
When everything turned dark after a few hours, she crawled out of the hole and tried to find her way to safety. Her ex-husband, a US army veteran, was arrested the following day.
The Ex-Husband is Scheduled to be Arraigned on Nov 1 for Attempted Murder and Kidnapping Charges
Young Sook An, the ex-wife, pleaded with a judge in a letter read aloud in the court that Chae Kyong, the ex-husband, be locked up. She said that this was because she feared for her life.
Her request was granted, and Chae remains detained in the Thurston County Jail without any bond. Chase is now waiting for a firearms review due soon and is scheduled to be arraigned on November 1 for the attempted murder and kidnapping charges.
